School is Now in Session: Homebuyers Select Purchase on School District
Where you choose to live is important – it dictates how you get to work, what you do for fun, and where you send your kids to school.
A recent report from the National Association of Realtors found that 53% of buyers with children in the home under 18 years of age said the quality of the school districts is an important factor when purchasing a home.
50% said the convenience to the school also plays a role.
These percentages are vastly different from prospective homeowners who do not have children – only 10% consider school districts as part of their decision-making.
It looks as though homeowners with children were more likely to sell their home at a faster pace than those without. 23% of sellers with children reported they sold their home “very urgently” while 14% of buyers with no children said they had to sell their home quickly.
Between the two groups – childless or not – the process of searching for the right home was the most difficult step reported.
Purchasing a home takes plenty of consideration – and it looks like school districts and their performance is a major factor for those with kids.
