3 things to know about this thing called Threads
Let’s talk about Threads. If that’s not ringing a bell, let’s explain. Threads is the new social media app backed by the parent company of Facebook and Instagram that’s billed as the new alternative to Twitter.
This isn’t a piece saying that you need to be on Threads. As we’ve mentioned before, there are plenty of social media platforms out there, and you should be on the ones that A) you’re most comfortable with and B) where the majority of your target audience is active. After all, the No. 1 goal of all social media is to interact and engage.
Whether Threads becomes the next big thing for real estate – being a Meta product already gives it a leg up – or just a flash in the pan is yet to be seen. But here are a few things to know about Threads to get you started.
Initial interest is sky-high. Over 100 million people signed up worldwide for an account in less than a week, so the curiosity is certainly there. It’s worth at least exploring and seeing who from your local and digital communities have already joined.
You sign up using your Instagram account. One of the easy things about this platform is that getting started is a breeze. The system can duplicate your profile photo and information if you’d like. In addition, it will give you the option to follow all or some of your Instagram followers on Threads.
It’s worth signing up quickly if you enjoy being on social media. Our teams know each of our partners and customers uses social media differently. Still, if you pride yourself on being a digital thought leader and want to continue to build a brand using social and other tools, there’s no downside to getting in early (Check out this advice from the Broke Agent if you do). Experiment and determine what you love – and don’t love – about this new tool and go from there.
Next time you’re around one of our closing tables, let us know if you’ve joined the Threads community or not. Time will tell if Threads gains staying power and ultimately topples Twitter. However, one thing will remain the same: We’re always there for you. It doesn’t matter if that’s in-person, over the phone or on whatever social media outlet you love the most.
