Here at Home – AmeriTitle Baker City

The next AmeriTitle branch spotlight focuses on the hardworking and experienced professionals in our Baker City, OR branch. Baker City is a close-knit community in Eastern Oregon that is proud of its past and simultaneously building a bright future.

“Our combined years of experience give us the leg up on the competition,” says Julie Paxton, Branch Manager. “There is likely not a scenario that we haven’t seen or handled here.” This team has more than six decades of experience in the title world, and that expertise shines through the branch’s work every day. “We love helping people through the homebuying process and knowing that we make a very nerve-racking experience a little better,” Paxton said.

Baker City has a rich history, including two local landmarks this branch loves to highlight near their office: the recently restored Geiser Grand Hotel and the Baker County Courthouse, which includes an eternal flame to honor lives lost in World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Speaking of honoring those who have served, the town itself is named after Edward Dickinson Baker, the only U.S. Senator ever killed in military combat. Baker died in 1861 during the Civil War while fighting in the Battle of Ball’s Bluff. Today, the area is known for great skiing, especially at the Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort, the Miner’s Jubilee festival in July, Hells Canyon, and many more outdoor recreation opportunities.

The Baker City team knows that a strong and healthy community is good for business. This is why they are so dedicated to contributing to their communities and making them great places to work and live. They are proud supporters of the local backpack program, the Baker County Fair & Auction, the Baker Quarterback Club, the Brooklyn PTO and the Baker County YMCA, and other fundraisers for schools and youth sports teams.

When this team isn’t working with customers and partners, they’re enjoying time with family or engaging in a host of other hobbies. Julie Paxton enjoys card making and quilting when she’s not cheering on her granddaughters during their sports and other activities. Mary Banta, Escrow Officer, plays pickleball and loves to hit the slopes. Jeri Shafer, Title Assistant, enjoys reading, taking her dog on walks and spending time with her grandkids.
